Andrey to face Gonzalez in the second round in New Haven

After a few days off due to a small muscle problem that forced him to withdraw from the first qualifying round in Cincinnati, Andrey returned to the circuit in New Haven. Golubev, seeded fifth in the ATP 250, will start in the second round, where he will meet (this afternoon, Tuesday, August 24) Argentine Maximo Gonzalez.

Andrey now 36th best in the world; preparing for Cincinnati, New Haven and the U.S. Open

Despite his premature exit from the ATP Toronto 1000,  Andrey can console himself with his new best ATP ranking. The latest world list, in fact, shows the Kazakh from Bra occupying 36th place. This giant leap was largely due to his third round showing in Washington, where the so-called "Baby Face" struggled for three sets with Thomas Berdych (who eventually emerged with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 7-5).

Andrey begins his American trip. In the video section, highlights of Hamburg!

After his triumph at Hamburg and his respectable showing at Gstaad, Andrey has begun his long trip to North America. The first tournament for the "Kazakh from Bra" will be the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington DC, where Andrey is sixteenth seeded. The second round will start on Wednesday, August 4
